Entry 26:

I asked Skink what he wanted for Christmas this year. He said `a piece of coal.' I told him he was nuts, but then I got to thinking about it. A piece of coal, or better yet a sack, would actually make a great present. For a start coal is kinda neat and shiny, so it's nice to look at and would make a great conversation piece or even a paperweight. But the stuff will also keep you warm if you burn it, and, let's face it, Christmas time is pretty damn cold. If you don't have the luxury of a fire place, you can use it in your barbecue to grill that perfect steak. Heck, I wouldn' t mind some coal myself this Christmas! With the postal service going crazy about security these days, I thought I'd help them out and write "This Is Not A Bomb" on all the packages I sent this Christmas. For a couple of days now there's been an unmarked van parked across the street... I highly doubt they're spies from the North Pole, but if they knock on the door I'll treat them as such.
